Saccisica Youth Orchestra

Our United Planet is proud to support the Social Promotion Association Saccisica Youth Orchestra providing musical scholarships. With a passion for the promotion of knowledge of art and musical culture in all its forms, with a focus on research and study.

With your support, the money raised with your generosity will allow students in need to gain access to free instrumental courses building talent and confidence, free orchestral and choir training to grow social skills, as well as performance opportunities that build a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem.

I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.

Billy Joel

The Youth Orchestra encourages the participation of all in cultural, musical, theatrical and artistic activities to achieve cultural development and enhancement of the regions in which it operates.

Music may play an important role in meeting a child’s educational needs as it provides a means of self-expression, giving the child an outlet for feelings and emotions. Music, aside from being a source of enjoyment, is also a means of communication with others.

Suthers and Niland, 2007

Giving young people vital skills of teamwork, personal growth, and achievement, developing cultural understanding and learning to work with the community.

Children who are involved in music and learning an instrument benefit socially, academically and helps to build self-confidence and a good work ethic for the future.

Slowly building relationships we have been able to grow in the number of children we have been able to give access to nurture their talents and support kids who can’t afford to follow their passions.

In 1999 we saw talented children who wanted to keep learning music but didn’t have the means to pursue. Through holding events promoting young musicians in the area we have built up to the official Youth Orchestra and want to replicate its success for more children to benefit.

Exposure to music from early childhood onwards helps children to speak more clearly, develop a larger vocabulary, and strengthen social and emotional skills.

The Youth Orchestra strives to promote the union of music with literature and other arts (dance, figurative arts, cinema, theater), bringing it to places that are historically, artistically and culturally significant, to better achieve its goals.
